I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and am continually training and developing my knowledge with the aim to provide an up to date service for my clients.
I’m a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am bound by their Ethical Framework for counselling professionals. I attend regular supervision to support professional practice and comply with BACP requirements. I hold professional indemnity insurance and an enhanced DBS Certificate.
My own experience of counselling started 10 years ago when I was suffering with post-natal depression and anxiety. Therapy helped me to explore these difficult feelings and shine a light on maladaptive behaviours that I had learnt in my earlier years that were no longer serving me. With this awareness I was able to make sense of what I was experiencing which enabled me to make different choices and set healthier boundaries. I can honestly say that my counselling experience changed the path of my life for the better which is why I believe so strongly in the power of talking therapy.
As a counsellor, my aim is to offer a safe and confidential space to talk freely and openly without judgement. The therapy room is a place to explore difficult feelings and painful emotions which can help you to make sense of your internal world, leading to positive growth and increased self-awareness. Together we will explore your past to gain insight into what’s negatively affecting your life today. This will shine a light on why you behave or think the way you do. I won’t give advice but depending on you, we can come up with strategies together on how to deal with difficult thoughts and feelings which will ultimately lead to an improvement in your feelings of wellbeing.

The therapeutic relationship between us is essential for this process to be effective which is why I offer a warm, empathic and non-judgemental space. I aim to create a safe, confidential and open-minded environment so that you feel comfortable to talk about anything that you are struggling with. I believe that trust, empathy, acceptance and boundaries are crucial for our work to be successful.
I offer a free initial telephone consultation (up to 15 mins), after which there is no obligation to book a counselling session. If you would like to book an appointment after this consultation, and I feel that I can meet your therapeutic needs, we will then arrange a suitable time for your first counselling session.
Sessions are weekly in the first instance and last for 50 minutes. They will take place at the same day and time each week. The number of sessions you have will be discussed at your first session and will be guided by your needs. Also during your first session, I will go through our contract which outlines all of the necessary information for us to work ethically and safely together, and I will give you a paper copy of this contract to sign, ready for the following session. The rest of the session is then for you to share with me what has brought you here.
My address and payment details will be sent in an email, once we have booked a slot. Sessions are confirmed once payment has been made.
